If you have risk factors, a family history of osteoporosis, changes in menstrual cycles, low testosterone, a history of stress fractures, or a fracture from a low-impact fall, bring the conversation to your healthcare provider. Pilates Modifications for Osteopenia or Osteoporosis

If you have been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, Pilates can still be deeply supportive, but exercise selection and instruction matter. An experienced instructor can help you build strength, balance, and confidence while respecting your individual needs.

In some cases, particularly with spinal osteoporosis or a history of vertebral fracture, repeated loaded spinal flexion, forceful twisting, and rapid end-range movements may not be appropriate.
